Resources and energy projects continue to be the subject of increased community scrutiny as to how environmental, social, and governance risks are managed. When this is done well, it is often because the project proponent has not only obtained all necessary statutory, land holder and native title approvals, but they also have developed and implemented a successful and sustainable stakeholder engagement strategy. When these risks are managed poorly though, there is now a well-trodden path of objections, litigation, shareholder and investor activism, and damage to corporate reputation. This session will focus on current trends in the management of ESG risks, recent cases, industry highlights and policy developments.
