BirdLife Australia is celebrating National Threatened Species Day on 7 September with a talk from local expert Dr. Beth Mott, Powerful Owl Project Officer at the Birdlife Australia Discovery Centre.
Powerful Owls are our largest Australian owl, and a vulnerable species. These owls are living amongst us in the Greater Sydney Basin, sometimes even breeding in our own backyards! With the help of an owly army of over 500 citizen scientists, Birdlife Australia’s Powerful Owl Project has been monitoring the success of Sydney’s urban population of owls for the last nine years.
BirdLife Australia have identified some key threats and some great successes and would love to tell you all about the secret life of Powerful Owls and how your own actions can help us save this magnificent species.
This event is open to everyone, not just Ku-ring-gai residents!
