About this event

On Thursday November 5, WA Parliament will be debating whether to implement a Climate Change Act, you can participate in this rally and show your support for this legislation.

The more people down at Parliament house, the stronger the message that will be sent. If passed, the Climate Change Act will:

– Immediately cap WA’s emissions at current levels;
– Create a net-zero emissions by 30 June 2040 target (interim target of 50% of 2005 levels by 30 June 2030);
– create a 100% renewable energy by 30 June 2030 target (interim target of 50% by 30 June 2025);
– Establish an independent state Climate Council to help drive WA’s response to climate change;

Right now, there is the opportunity to not only tackle the COVID-19 economic crisis, but also the climate crisis.

Now is the time for the State Government to be bold. Now is the time to set a net-zero emissions target, drive renewable energy investment and establish an independent Climate Council to oversee the transition to a renewable economy. Now is the time for a WA Climate Change Act.

This Act will create thousands of green jobs, support our communities, and protect the environment – but it’s up to us as a community to make it happen.
