About this event

Join Farmers for Climate Action in part 3 of their ‘Get Elected’ webinar series to educate people about the role of local government (outside the three Rs — roads, rubbish and rates), and then how to run for council, including media training.

Local Government elections are coming up in Victoria later this year and in New South Wales early next year. If you’ve ever considered running for council, now is the perfect time!

Local governments are at the forefront of responding to the impacts of climate change. Higher temperatures, sea level rise, increased frequency and intensity of severe weather events, and other natural hazards all present serious challenges to local governments and test their capacity to adapt to a changing climate.

It is also the easiest level of government to get elected to and can allow you to help shape the decisions of your community.

Part 3 of the webinar series, ‘Media Training’ you will learn how to write a press release, how to speak to local media and about framing your policies.
