About this event

Given the urgent need for rapid decarbonisation across all sectors of the economy, hydrogen appears to be one solution fit for purpose.

In this webinar the Smart Energy Council will carry out a focussed discussion of the opportunities and barriers for hydrogen solutions – what targets and policies might be implemented to support the uptake of hydrogen technologies, economic comparison(s) for liquid fuel replacement.

We will examine how certain off-grid or remote communities in Australia could transition to using hydrogen and renewable energy to become self-sustaining in their energy requirements. Highlighting the economic opportunity offered by this transition, and the communities best placed to do so.

Hear from industry experts:

  • Claire Johnson, Co-founder and Managing Director, Hydrolytics
  • Evan Gray, Professor, Griffith University
  • Mats de Ronde, Energy Markets and Technology, DNV GL
  • John Grimes, Chief Executive, Smart Energy Council

Topic overview:

  • Economic comparison for diesel fuel replacement
  • Targets and policy support mechanisms
  • Opportunities for hydrogen technology in existing systems
  • Technology overview for self-sustaining zero-emissions communities
  • DNV GL: Power to gas
