About this event

Join us for an hour of online action against Adani’s creditors as we make calls, write emails and make social media posts together, as a united community (via video conference), rather than in isolation.

Adani’s Abbot Point coal port is drowning in debt. Adani urgently need to borrow more money to pay off $1 billion in debt that is soon due on their Abbot Point coal port. Right now, they are desperately looking for banks to bail them out by refinancing these loans. The Abbot Point coal port, located on the edge of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, is essential to the disastrous Adani Carmichael coal project — it’s how they’ll ship the coal from their Queensland mine to be burned at their coal plant in India.Abbot Point is an essential link in the chain that forms the Adani Carmichael coal project. These companies need to know that financing Abbot Point means supporting Adani coal and thus fueling the climate crisis. If Adani cannot borrow money to repay this debt, then they will have to pay the money themselves. Every dollar Adani spends paying back its Abbot Point Port debt is a dollar it can’t spend building its climate-wrecking mine and rail line.

You’ll need a computer or smartphone with you, so that you can make phone calls or write messages/emails to Marsh whilst on the Zoom call together. All the support and info that you need to take these actions will be provided when you join the zoom call

Social distancing doesn’t have to be isolating, and it certainly doesn’t have to be boring. Join us for a productive hour of climate action, to #stopadani together.
