The Greens: Renewables: Q&A and myth-busting

Thursday 24 Sep
- Thursday 24 Sep

About this event

Is a 100% renewables target realistic? How can we look after workers and deliver cheap, reliable power without coal? Can Queensland afford an urgent transition away from fossil fuels?

Join Greens MP Michael Berkman and Senator Larissa Waters for an interactive live stream conversation about the Greens’ vision for 100% publicly owned renewable energy by 2030, our plans to create thousands of new sustainable jobs, and how we’ll pay for it with increased mining royalties.

We’ll talk through some of the most common objections raised to renewable energy, from coal lobbyists’ propaganda and major party spin, to tricky questions your friends or family might ask about the transition.

Then you’ll have an opportunity to grill Michael and Larissa yourself, and ask any questions you might have about energy, climate action, green jobs and more.

If you want to feel more confident talking about Greens policies, this is a great place to start. Plus, it’s a fantastic opportunity to meet your Queensland Greens representatives and hear about how you can help us win more seats in Parliament this October.

This event is open to anyone, whether you’re a seasoned Greens supporter, or just curious about climate and energy policy.

You can tune in via Facebook, Youtube or Twitter from 6:30pm – just make sure you click “Going” here to get notified when we’re live. BYO snacks and drinks!
