About this event

Kids can discover the world through the pages of a book. Join us as we delve into the world of kids nature books with two fantastic authors Tania McCartney & Christina Booth.

Join us Live! https://www.facebook.com/wilderness.society/live/

Tania McCartney – author of Fauna: Australia’s Most Curious Creatures. In this non-fiction book, readers are constantly introduced to facts that delight, amaze and induce sheer wonder at the clever design and adaptability of our much-loved native fauna.

Christina Booth – author of One Careless Night
Where the mist swallows mountains and winds whisper through ancient trees, a mother and her pup run wild and free. They hunt, but they are also hunted. Carted away. Sold for bounty. And then, one careless night … The last thylacine is gone.

Our Hosts: Megan Daley & Micaela Jemison
Megan is passionate about children’s literature and sharing it with young and old alike on her popular website Children’s Book Daily. She is a teacher-librarian and a former national vice-president of the Children’s Book Council of Australia.

Micaela is the Head of Digital for the Wilderness Society. She is an accomplished science communicator and former threatened species biologist.

Both Tania and Christina have been shortlisted for the 2020 Environment Award for Children’s Literature!

Every year the Wilderness Society shortlists the best children’s nature books before a panel of judges crowns a winner. Showcasing some of the best writers and illustrators working in children’s literature, the Environment Award for Children’s Literature promotes a love of nature in kids.

Learn more about the award:

Past winners of the award include acclaimed Australian children’s authors Tim Winton, Paul Jennings, Jackie French, the late Narelle Oliver, Coral Tulloch, Graeme Base and Wendy Orr.
