WA has lacked a single view of the power system, with separate network and generation planning. The Whole of System Plan for the south west has been developed to fill this gap. The Plan:
- Identifies the best options for investment in our power system, to maintain security andreliability at the lowest sustainable cost
- Assists in the transition to a lower-emissions power system by guiding the efficient integrationof renewable generation and identifying opportunities for energy storage, which will play anincreasing role in meeting our essential electricity needs
- Provides guidance to regulators and industry regarding efficient power system investment,and to policymakers on the future needs of the power system
AIE Perth is pleased to host the Minister for Energy for this discussion on the first Whole of System Plan, a key output of the Energy Transformation Strategy.
Bill Johnston was elected to Parliament in September 2008 as the State Member for Cannington.
He was sworn in as the Mines and Petroleum, Commerce and Industrial Relations, Electoral Affairs, and our State’s first Asian Engagement Minister in March 2017. In December 2018, he took over the Energy portfolio.
